The school program consists of an American curriculum that reflects the international character of its students within the Cameroonian environment. Students who graduate from the 12th grade at ASOY are eligible to apply for admission to colleges and universities in the United States and around the world. All students take the core curriculum including English/language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, French, library skills, physical education, and swimming. In addition, students have access to two modern computer labs where they learn the basics of keyboarding and other computer skills to complement their academic studies as well as electronic research access in the library.
Instruction is in English, with the exception of French language classes, which are required of all students. ASOY offers a learning support program for students with learning and/or other difficulties on an individual basis. ASOY does not provide special support for learning disabled students. Admission for all students is based on previous school records, our own placement tests, and consultation with parents and teachers as to the appropriateness of our school program for the student.
ASOY is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools from the United States and the Council of International Schools (CIS). (CIS was formerly known as the European Council of International Schools.) ASOY's high school graduates have been accepted into universities in the United States, Canada, England, Wales and Saudi Arabia. ASOY is an active member of the Association of International Schools in Africa.
