ASOY Board Elections
In preparation for the upcoming AGM on April 21st, please note that three seats are coming up for election to the ASOY School Board. These seats are: one American Embassy seat and two International Parent seats.
The School Board is the school’s governing body. The seven members are parents of the Association and/or US Embassy employees. Board members are volunteers and are elected by ASOY parents through an annual election process in April at the Annual General Meeting. Board members serve a two year term and may run as candidates in the elections to serve further terms.
The Board meets monthly from August to May. We invite parents, legal guardians and faculty to attend Board meetings as observers. The monthly meeting dates are set at the September Board Retreat and will be posted on the asoy.org website.

Responsibilities of the board include: determining school policy, delegating instructional authority to professional staff, developing financial and strategic plans, approving the school’s budget, hiring and evaluating the Director, and appraising results achieved in light of the vision, mission, and philosophy of the school. The board operates under the Board Policy Manual.
