Director's Welcome
If you have just discovered the American School of Yaoundé (ASOY) I would like to take this opportunity to extend a warm welcome and tell you a bit about why we are called the school of International Mindedness.
Our school is located in the historic capital town of Yaoundé. It is the only English-speaking accredited institution of its kind offering an American style of educational program in predominantly French-speaking Central Africa. Founded in 1964, we are an independent not for profit, co-educational school serving students from over 32 countries. With our mission to Engage, Empower and Excel, we strive to empower students to embrace their individual passions and become engaged, caring and fulfilled global citizens that will positively impact the society.
We are an IB World Continuum School offering the Primary Years Program (PYP) for grades Pk3-5. The Middle Years Program (MYP) for grades 6-10 and the Diploma Program (IBDP) for grades 11-12. We are accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS), Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools (MSA). We also started a bilingual(French/English) Prek-3 class for the 2019-20 school year. We offer a rich portfolio of programs designed to make sure our students have a well-balanced education of academics, community service, arts, athletics and a full complement of after school activities. Our graduates attend top colleges and universities across the world.
We have a highly qualified and diversified staff representing 10 countries with most faculty from the United States, Canada and Cameroon. With a generous professional development budget, our staff are able to attend workshops across the world to continually improve their skills and learn about the latest research.
We invite you to visit our website to learn more and why not make a stop on our campus at Rue Martin Samba Yaoundé and we will be delighted to have you.
